Scale Plastic Model Kits
The Arleigh Burke class of destroyers are the only class of surface combatants
that will be under construction in the U.S. at the start of the 21st century. They are in series production with the Department of Defense and Congress supporting four per year. These are the first U.S. Destroyers of post-WW II construction with steel superstructures. These ships, the first all-new US Navy surface combatant design in many years, are fully multi-role ships. Their primary emphasis is AAW, but they are very capable in all other warfare areas. They were designed with "lessons learned" from previous classes, and are among the finest surface combatants in the world.
This kit is highly detailed. The upper hull is cast as a single piece casting split at the waterline for your choice of full hull or waterline model. All the large parts, the turret, smoke stacks, pipes, and platforms are cast in resin. All small parts are cast in fine pewter. An extensive photo-etched brass sheet is included to finish the kit.
