Grand Banks Dory 1880Kit

On the choppy seas of the Grand Banks off northern New England, hardy cod fishermen set their hand lines from these seemingly fragile cockleshells. Returning to the mother schooner each evening, the dories were designed to nest one inside another on deck. Cheap to build, the Dory, a high-sided, flat-bottomed, sharp-bowed rowboat, was used in many New England fisheries by late 18th century. Built exactly the same way as the full sized boat–triangular stern, flat bottom, and three garboard strakes–this kit is a true learning experience.
